Aged care workers in Australia are required to hold the CHC33021 Certificate III in Individual Support (Ageing) or an equivalent nationally recognised qualification. This is a mandatory requirement under the Aged Care Quality Standards (ACQS) and applies to all workers in residential aged care facilities (RACFs).

The Aged Care Quality Standards are eight standards set by the Australian Government that all residential aged care facilities must meet. They cover consumer dignity and choice, ongoing assessment and planning, personal care and clinical care, services and supports, service environment, feedback and complaints, human resources, and organisational governance.

No. Aged care support workers and personal care workers do not require AHPRA registration. Health Plus International verifies CHC33021 qualifications, National Police Clearance, Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) training currency, and first aid certification for all aged care workers before placement.

Residential aged care workers (CHC33021) work in RACFs providing personal care, ADL support, and respite.
